A beautifully crafted four-bedroom village home tucked away within a small, private courtyard of individual homes
Constructed in 2021 The Wedmore enjoys approx 0.24 acre plot and brings together warm red brick, clay-tiled rooftops and rich timber cladding in a way that feels both thoughtfully modern and entirely at home in its village setting.
The entrance hall sets the tone: a vaulted ceiling draws the eye upward, and a handsome oak staircase rises from the centre of the home. Underfloor heating runs throughout the ground floor, keeping every room comfortable underfoot.
Light and space shape every part of this home. At its centre is the kitchen, fitted with Shaker-style cabinetry, a generous breakfast island and a built-in pantry cupboard. From here, a characterful oak frame opens into the dining room, where wide oak floorboards and views over the garden create an easy, sociable space for everything from family dinners to long weekend lunches. It is a layout that keeps everyone connected, whether you are cooking, chatting or simply gathered around the table. When you want a change of pace, the living room offers a separate retreat for quieter evenings, while a dedicated home office, utility room and cloakroom quietly handle the demands of busy family life.
Upstairs, all four bedrooms are generous doubles. The principal suite has its own dressing area and en suite shower room, while the family bathroom, with both a bath and separate shower is finished to a luxurious standard.
Outside, the plot is genuinely unexpected for a modern home and offers huge potential. Nearly a quarter of an acre wraps around the house, with a wide sandstone terrace giving way to a sun-lit lawn framed by mature trees, including a magnificent cedar, which together create a wonderful sense of privacy. To the front, there is parking for several cars alongside the garaging. A separate garage is also included.
Clifton upon Dunsmore offers the best of both worlds, with open farmland and far-reaching countryside views on the doorstep, and Rugby’s amenities, schools and mainline station just minutes away.
When we first saw the house, we couldn’t believe the amount of space we were getting, considering it was a new build. Then we went into the garden and were blown away by the space. At that point, we knew it would enable us to have an easy lifestyle while providing opportunities for future development, should we need it.
Living in the house is a dream - it’s cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We have beautiful views all around us and such a peaceful and safe setting, but we’re still only a five-minute drive from good coffee and M&S!
The kitchen is our favourite room, of course! It’s the communal hub of the home - we’ve had many a kitchen disco! Key stand-out elements are the stone worktops, which are a dream, and the huge pantry cupboard.
I also love the master bedroom because it feels tucked away — a quiet oasis with lovely views of the oak tree.
Every moment in the garden is memorable - our children playing on the garden swing, having campfires and camping in the garden, playing French cricket with friends, and enjoying all the BBQs and treasure hunts. The wildlife we’ve seen is incredible, the birds, squirrels, hedgehogs, toads, and even the bats!
Another memorable occasion was hosting my mum’s 60th birthday bash — we had a house full of people, yet the space handled it effortlessly.
The living room is a wonderfully cosy space for family time, especially around Christmas, with enough room for everyone to gather comfortably, relax together, and enjoy the warmth of the home.
I have loved being in such a peaceful countryside setting, while still having all the benefits and amenities only five minutes away. I have also really enjoyed having such sociable spaces, as well as quieter areas to retreat to. It just works so well for family life.
From a practical point of view, the low-maintenance nature of the house has been a real benefit. Our previous home was a period property, and we knew we wanted something easy to maintain and cheaper to heat. This house has delivered.
We are a busy, hectic family, and this house has made day-to-day life feel so easy — I will definitely miss that. I will also miss the neighbours; they are very kind and thoughtful, but they also lead busy lives like ours, so there has always been a lovely balance of friendliness and privacy.
We are selling to relocate closer to the sea and to our parents. It has been a lifelong dream, and we feel as though we have been given the push we needed to make it happen.
