"Having so much green spaces at our doorstep has been a real blessing. Being able to step out the house and be on the common, the moor, or by the river has been the best! We also love walking or cycling across Oldbury Court from our home and often do this as part of our school run (our son goes to school in Fishponds). In our home we love sitting in our sun filled kitchen, spending time in our garden, enjoying the warmth of our wood burner in the lounge."
The home
A distinctively styled and colourful three bedroom home on a quiet street in Frenchay, sitting on a spacious plot. Entrance is into a porch, through to a generous hallway with stairs on the right side of the property. On the first left is the living room, featuring a large window and wood burner. Continuing through the hallway you find the focal point of the home, the kitchen/dining area, boasting pops of colour and good floorspace. At the back of the kitchen is a lobby/utility area, W.C and a door to the garden. Upstairs are two double bedrooms, with the main bedroom including a built-in wardrobe and vibrant decoration. The third room is a versatile space for a single bed, guest room, or home office. At the end of the hallway, you’ll find the bathroom which has a bath and shower.
The outside space
The plot begins with a well-kept and easy to maintain front garden. Side access is also available along the left side of the property, leading to the rear garden. The garden itself is truly tranquil, and a pleasant amount of privacy is offered. The aspect is mainly south, and captures an incredible amount of sun throughout the day. The garden features a lawn, multiple decking areas, greenhouse and outbuildings.
Living in Frenchay
Frenchay Village is one of the oldest parts of the city, first recorded in the 13th century. The village is home to a primary school, pub, museum, tennis club, and the well-known cricket club once captained by W.G. Grace. While it has kept its village feel, the area has also seen newer homes built, many on the site of the former Frenchay Hospital. Shops, pubs, and schools are within walking distance, including the popular White Lion pub, which has been refurbished recently, located off of Frenchay Common. The M4, M32, and the ring road (A4174) are close by, with Filton Abbey Wood, home to major employers such as the MOD and Rolls-Royce. Bristol Parkway is a short drive via Hambrook, making the area well connected. A big draw for Frenchay is the link to green space, and being set within a rural setting, but within touching distance of Bristol and beyond. The River Frome runs along side the area, a scenic spot to enjoy long walks. On one side is Oldbury Court Estate/Vassalls Park, and the other is Begbrook Green, with direct access to Snuff Mills. Well-regarded schools are also in the vicinity, including Frenchay CoE, Begbrook Primary, Frome Vale and Avanti Gardens.
