History of 46 & 47 Middle Hill
In 1934 Charles Albert Blacklock took a tenancy on a pair of Victorian cottages built in 1869 after the sale of his greengrocery business in High Street Egham. He purchased No. 47 soon after and then 46. In the late 1950s, Bernard Dennis, his grandson began the plant nursery which was to run there until 2025. This was the last surviving market garden/small holding in the village of the nine that flourished there in the 1950s. Herbs and vegetable plants for local allotments were grown with geraniums for hanging baskets and a wide range of bedding plants for local gardens. The two properties (46 & 47 Middle Hill) were amalgamated to form 'Blacklocks House', a large four bedroom house for the family. This is the first time the property has been on the market in 91 years.
