“We have absolutely loved living here and will be sad to say goodbye. During our nine years, we have put a lot of time, energy and love into the house. We have also turned the garden from a back yard into a beautiful space to spend time and enjoy meals during the summer. The street is full of wonderful families, and the children all play together, creating a real sense of community. The house itself is always bright and welcoming, with a cozy, snug feel in the evenings. It’s incredibly easy to access green space, with the Frome Valley and Eastville Park just at the end of the road. The Star is right around the corner for a pint in the garden, and the friendliest corner shop is nearby for any last-minute essentials.”
This home is situated on Elmgrove Road, at the heart of the hugely popular Thingwall Park neighbourhood of Fishponds, bordering the expansive green space of the Frome Valley. The area offers a rare open feel, with an abundance of greenery, trees, and wildlife—something not often found in such a central city location. There's a strong sense of community, with plenty of local events and groups to join. Eastville Park boasts a variety of facilities, including tennis courts, a bowls green, and an indoor community space. Just beyond the park, a short walk leads to Greenbank, home to the historic Greenbank Cemetery, perfect for exploring, as well as some fantastic independent shops and cafés like Este’s and Matter Wholefoods.
Fishponds has become a thriving café hotspot, with popular spots like Mi Café Su, The Crafty Egg, and FED drawing a loyal crowd. Snuffy Jacks, a much-loved micro-pub on Fishponds Road, is a favourite among locals, while The Star—just a five-minute walk from the property—is a historic Irish pub known for its live music and the best pint of Guinness in Bristol.
For commuters, Fishponds is ideally situated, offering easy access to the M32 and M4 motorways, as well as quick cycle, bus, or car routes into the city centre and key employment hubs across North Bristol. The area benefits from several tarmacked cycle paths, providing traffic-free routes into the city or out towards the suburbs, Keynsham, and Bath.
This stunning Victorian terrace is a beautifully crafted family home on one of Fishponds’ most sought-after roads. The entrance leads into a spacious hallway, with a staircase along the right-hand side. To the left, the living room is a bright and inviting space, featuring a large bay window and an original fireplace. Moving through the ground floor, the kitchen and dining area form the heart of the home—a fantastic space for entertaining or everyday family life. With ample storage and shelving for books, it’s both practical and welcoming. The dining area has double doors opening onto the landscaped garden, which features a seating area at the back and a small storage shed. To the right of the kitchen, a lean-to serves as a utility room and additional storage space. The original wooden floors throughout the property have recently been renovated, adding warmth and character. Upstairs, the main bedroom is a generous double, with a stunning bay window, high ceilings, and a striking combination of dark, dramatic paint and warm wood flooring, making it a perfect retreat. The two additional bedrooms are equally inviting, with tasteful décor and a good amount of space. The contemporary bathroom is sleek and stylish, featuring a three-piece suite and original stained-glass windows.
The property also boasts a spacious, usable loft room, large enough for a double bed and an office area. Dual-aspect Velux windows flood the space with natural light, and a built-in sink means the plumbing is already in place should you wish to convert it into an en-suite. This home is a rare gem in a fantastic location, blending period charm with modern living in one of Fishponds' most desirable streets.
