CORUNNA

The Royal Welch Fusiliers took part in the battle of Corunna in 1809. On the
night of 18/19 January 1809 the RWF were the last to leave Corunna, and Captain Thomas Lloyd Fletcher was tasked with locking the main gates. Having locked the gates to Corunna he placed the keys in his pocket. Eventually the keys were brought to Wales and are displayed today in the RWF Museum, Caernarfon Castle.
