“We are self-builders and we had definite ideas regarding the design after seeing the plot. We wanted to take advantage of the lovely setting and fabulous views and we subsequently engaged an architect (Hughes of Newtown) to obtain an individual design. Our most important request was that the house should look and feel as though it belongs, both to the local area and the plot itself,” say the vendors.

“We loved the sense of calm the plot offered when we first visited, and this feeling has remained now the house is complete. It has a lovely sense of serenity which is noticeable as you walk through the gate. We are particularly proud of the brickwork, which consists of herringbone, soldiers, pillars and piers and it is a beautiful house to look at. We are also proud of the internal fabric of the property which has high-quality insulation, underfloor heating, timber windows and an oak porch with balcony. The balcony is a lovely seating area, perfect for drinks and nibbles, as well as being a superb spot to observe the stars in the night sky. There’s always something of interest to catch our attention, including the reflection of the balcony in the glazing on the stairs.”

“We have enjoyed having a popular pub within a short walking distance which has great food and a welcoming ambience. We love the local walks in the picturesque countryside and often stop in at the quaint tea-shop in the village for tea and cake.”

“Christmas 2017 started off with a visit from our local “Young Farmers Club” who entertained our family and friends with their superb carol singing and bell ringing which was followed by lots of mince pies and mulled wine. It was a very special evening and we will leave Garland House with fond memories.”

“When we first saw the plot of land, we knew immediately where the lounge should be, and we were not wrong, the view here is fabulous.”

“We have designed the house and garden with minimum maintenance in mind.”

“The house and garden are perfect for entertaining. Boxing Day has seen over 25 family members arrive to enjoy the abundance of space, food and presents.”

“The light and airy rooms are a big feature of the property. There are large windows throughout and sliding doors open out onto the patio making Garland House a true joy to live in.”
